2011 World Series DVD Review
Last night I got to re-live the 2011 St. Louis Cardinals World Series run in the form of the OFFICIAL 2011 WORLD SERIES DVD! Let me start out by saying this DVD was awesome. The actual DVD set is a 2-disc set with both the full WS production and the full game NLDS Game 5. You can get this DVD set here.
So I sat down with my 8 year old son to watch this. We were both super pumped to dive back in and rehash some of these memories. As we were watching we both found ourselves cheering, staring and even shedding a small tear here or there. The manner in which the Cardinals won the 2011 World Series was absolutely ridiculous and this video set captures it all PERFECTLY!
It basically starts out with a season intro to capture your attention and then briefly touches on regular season "moments". Like expected, it then spends more time on the NLDS, NLCS and World Series games and moments that we all want to remember. I thought the DVD did a great job of capturing the things that we all want to remember. For instance:
- big injuries in the middle of the year and the Cardinals (led by Yadi Molina) fought through.
- Just how unreal the big comeback to win the Wildcard was.
- The Rally Squirrel
- Carpenters domination of the Phillies in Game 5 of the NLDS
- Freese heroics in NLCS action.
- All of the big moments in the World Series games.
The DVD was just a perfect combination of entertainment, drama, highlites, interviews and more. I'm truly excited that I own a copy of this and can re-live this World Series anytime. After this DVD was over I just shook my head in amazement at three things.
- David Freese may have had one of the best post season performances EVER IN MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL! Again and again he came through for the Cardinals. He broke all sorts of Postseason records as well.
- Chris Carpenter was absolutely clutch EVERY TIME!
- The 2012 Cardinals are going to be really good. With Craig and Freese back along with the core - this team is stacked. Get Pujols to stay put and add Wainwright back in the mix and we might have ourselves another contender.
