Below is the Official Albert Pujols is a Cardinal petition list. This list will surely get the Cardinals management's attention once we get 1000+ signers and make them aware of it. Add your name to the petition to keep Albert Pujols a St. Louis Cardinal for life!
Armando Rey (Orlando Florida) - I cannot imaging El Hombre playing for another team. I had been a cardinal from 1961, Iam now 79 years old. Stan Musial The Man was my hero, so at the end of my live I have another hero, after 1961 The Man had to play with not too good teams but El Hombre play with goot teams, I think the Cardinals this year to win the Worl Serie. Good Luck.
Kevin Garrett (Wildwood, MO) - How often can you find a great role model who is a MVP as well. I hope we can find a way to keep AP in STL.
isaac melendez jr (el paso, tx) - keep him forever from el paso fans

Karla Graham (Colona, Illinois) - We need to do everything in our power to keep Pujols with the Cardinals. He is the best and I just love to watch him play ball.

Coby Grand (Creve Coeur) - Dewitt, you gotta keep him!
Jacky Caesar (Melbourne, Australia) - Everybody has seen the Gateway Arch by now. Sell it if you need to raise extra funds, because Albert is a much bigger tourist attraction than anything than the city of St.Louis could ever hope to produce. In fact the City of StL should subsidize any shortfall in his contract.
The re-signing of the great man should be treated as a state of emergency!
John Roberts (Melbourne, Australia) - Albert "The Answer" Pujols remaining a Cardinal for life, is more important to me than any team results or profits over the next 10 or so years.
He must be 100% pure Cardinal like Stan & Gibby, even though it was almost 100 years ago it irks me greatly that Dizzy & especially Hornsby were traded.
If I ever see Albert in a Yankee or BoSox uniform I will surely end it all.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE sign Pujols. Do what you can...and go ahead and sign DeRosa and Holliday while your at it...you know thats part of the deal.
Michael Loidolt (Cohasset, MN) - Albert is the best player in the game, the thought of him in any other uniform makes me sick. Albert is the absolute backbone for the Cardinals, and if you get rid of the backbone, the whole body falls apart. Keep him here please!
Peter Krenn (st.louis) - He is a great rolemodel to the fans. He is everything the cardinals need in a baseball player.
Alex Basson (Brooklyn, NY) - As a transplanted Cards fan, I often go to Yankees and Mets game wearing my MLB Authentic Pujols jersey. At first, the home-town fans I pass see only the red and think Red Sox (if they're Yankee fans) or Braves (if they're Mets fans) and give me a dirty look. But the moment the recognize that it's Redbird #5, they stop me and apologize, saying "I could never disrespect Pujols. I hate to say it, but he's the best player in the game."
We Cardinals fans have known for years that Albert's the best in the game. But now everyone else has finally come to see it as well. Pujols is not just the face of the Cardinals; he's the face of Major League Baseball. We need to keep him in St. Louis for as long as he's willing to play.
The best fans in baseball deserve the best player in baseball. Sign Albert Pujols for life.
Dave Whitman (Riverside, CA) - We are witnessing the best player to ever grace the field of professional baseball. Albert is a true and genuine hero, the real deal! Keep him in Cardinal red!
Bilal (Smithton/Illinois) - He is Mr. Cardinal. Drafted by the cardinals. Wins with the cardinals. And should walk away from baseball as a cardinal. No amount of money is an outrageous amount to sign him.

Alice Hand (Houston,Texas) - I was raised in Illinois but moved to Texas but also still
an avid St louis cardinal/albert Pujols fan. I am among
the so called Astros fans here.
Please sign Albert for the rest of his playing days.
Don't let a God Fearing Man like him to ever go to another
team. God Bless Albert and his family. We need him and he
needs to stay a St Louis Cardinal forever. We seldom hear of great athletes being Christians but Albert lives what he believes.
Please listen to the fans and sign him forever.
Chris Souris (St. Louis, MO) - Albert Pujols is the greatest player to play the game. He needs to stay a cardinal. He needs us just as much as we need him.

-PJ

Fletcher Terry (Memphis, TN) - Please sign Albert to a lifetime contract!
Ryan Goldenstein (MO) - Pujols is amazing. He NEEDS to play for the cardinals his whole career. It just wouldnt be the same team with out him.

Daniel (millersville/md) - Pujols is without doubt the best player in baseball right now and maybe even the best ever. He is easily one of the top players to ever play. Keep Albert!
Lydia Mays (henderson, ky) - Go Pujols!! woot woot!
Ray Kern (Des Moines/Iowa) - Alberts Made It Clear That He Wants To Stay Here So Lets Sign Him For Life! Theres No Negative Here!!!
Gayle Schwander (Peoria, Arizona) - He is amazing; an OUTSTANDING athlete and a wonderful citizen of STL. You got a fan in AZ!!
Michelle Waddell (Hannibal. MO) - Albert Pujols should always wear the Cardinals uniform. Whatever it takes to sign him, do it. There's already a lot of influence for him to re-sign by surrounding him with championship caliber players who help this team to win. Do whatever is necessary to keep Albert. He is the face of not only the St. Louis Cardinals, but of baseball itself.
Alex Brush (Lexington ) - GO PUJOLS.... GO CARDS!!!!

Kyle Milson (St. Louis/MO) - Resign Albert for life!!!!!!
james tate (stoutland mo) - Please
Nathan Cook (Fenton, MO) - Albert is a ONCE IN A LIFETIME PLAYER!!! We cannot let Albert play in anything but a Cardinal uniform. When you think of Cardinal players #'s 5 & 6 will be the first 2 players thought of!
Kyle Krisher (Keller, Tx) - Pujols needs to be a cardinal for life.
Bo Langston (Reeds Spring, Missouri) - Pujols is the best Cardinal player of all time. Not only on the field, but off the field too. They should keep him no matter what the price tag is. Remember, you get what you pay for.
Randy Knuppel (Manito, IL) - If he is not resigned, this could be the biggest mistake ever in the history of the game.
Dennis Anderson (Fort Smith, AR) - Albert Pujols is clearly the greatest player of our generation, and could be widely regarded as the greatest player of all time when his marvelous career is complete. I have full confidence that the St. Louis Cardinals organization recognizes what an elite talent Albert is. I feel that I speak for all of Cardinal Nation in saying that we need to keep him *at all costs.*
Pujols is the cornerstone of this franchise, and he should go to Cooperstown as a lifetime Cardinal.
Ross Hegge (Hartington, NE) - Albert Pujols is the best player in the majors, the Cardinals need a player like Pujols to be with them the rest of his career! Pujols makes the Cardinals one of the best teams in the Majors every year no matter who else we have on the roster! Rarely are there players that are this good, not only a hitting machine, but aslo a gold glove 1st basemen, and a WONDERFUL teamate to have to learn from him and just to be around such a great player! Getting rid of Albert Pujols would be the worst decision ever!!!! He deserves to play on a team with the greatest fans in the majors. No matter how much it costs you NEED to sign him. He deserves the most money in the league because he is the best player PERIOD!!!!!
Sarah Kuper (Maryland Heights, MO) - Albert is one of the greatest Cardinals ever.
Cory Kniepp (Collinsville, IL) - It would break my heart to see him play anywhere else.
Carmen Allurt (Willard Missouri) - Albert will be the best player of several decades. Take out a loan if you have to in 2011.
P.S.
You will not have to take out a loan, albert is too dedicated to St. Louis
neal higgins (st louis mo) - Albert is the best player in the game. He is also the best person in the game. He should be the highest paid player in the game ever. He is old school, playing through injury and hard times. He is going out of his way to make no excuses for his slumping times.
There are no psooible deal combinations that could be made to replace his value to the team, city or fans.
Several notes of thanks:
Candi Appleby (Modesto, Ca.) - Albert Puljols performance and dedication speaks for itself. He's the all around baseball hero.
Kyle (Laramie,WY) - albert is the man. He is a great hitter and fielder. He has the most homers in a players first nine seasons. Also he has a serious chance to be the all time home run leader. Keep this guy a redbird!
Brian Peterson (Illinois) - We must give this guy what he needs. We can't let him go to another team and let them when a championship or more can we?
Joel Hadley (Chicago/Illinois) - For as much as he has given to us as fans, you the front office and ownership, and baseball as a sport, he deserves to have a lifetime contract. Pay the mang what he wishes and you will never go wrong. Thank you.
Joel Hadley
Rob D (Arnold, Mo) - You absolutely must re-sign Albert Pujols. He absolutely has to retire a Cardinal. He will go down as one of the greatest to ever play the game and it would be a shame if wore any uniform other than a St Louis Cardinals uniform.
Daniel Wolter (Eagan, MN) - There is no one who has made Cardinals fans more proud in recent years -- both through his temperament and his success -- than Albert Pujols. I applaud Cardinals management on the recent acquisitions, which make it a stronger team. Albert Pujols represents everything we love about the Redbirds. Let's keep him a life-long Cardinal!
David (Springfield, MO) - Albert Pujols will be worth every dime he asks for and then some. I don't want to watch the best hitter of our generation become the best hitter in history on any other team. Do it for the fans. THE best fans in Baseball deserve the best hitter in Baseball.
Edward Wang (St.Louis) - Pujols rock!
Vicky Koonley (St, Peters, MO) - PLEASE, PLEASE. PLEASE sign him no matter what it cost!!!! We HAVE TO KEEP HIM HERE!!!!!! We need him so we can win the playoffs and the World Series again. With us just getting Holliday and him batting behing Pujols will make it so much better for us and I know that we can do it this year.
Gary Anderson (Blue Springs, Mo) - I have never seen a player as good as Albert in my lifetime. The previous generation had Stan Musial. We have Albert Pujols. He is a once in a lifetime player and deserves to take his place next to Stan as the top 2 Cardinal greats of all time. Stan never played for another team and neither should Albert!!!!!!!
Betty Wendland (Cottleville MO) - Pujols is the best thing that has happened to baseball and he is a great asset to the St Louis area. Let's do everything that we can to keep him here for the rest of his career.
Taylor (Canton IL,) - Albert Pujols Is Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo COOL You Rock Your biggest Fan
Ryan Whitfield (Danvers,Illinois) - Albert Pujols is the all time greatest player already. We should def. sign him for life. The man is amazing and the heart of the team.
Debby (Brighton, IL) - Keep Albert Pujols in St. Louis and a Cardinal FOR LIFE. I Albert Pujols is not only a huge asset on the field but quite a great player for the St. Louis community. Both Albert and his wife are GREAT assets for St. Louis community! PLEASE, keep Albert in St. Louis. LOYALity not GREED this time!!!
Chris Fehr (St. Louis, MO) - Whatever the cost, this new ownership >MUST< buck up!!!
Jordan Woodruff (Des Peres, MO) - Albert Pujols IS Cardinal Baseball. He has always been and should always be in STL. I'm sure that's what he wants as well.
chip schnatzmeyer (Irondale,Mo.) - Albert is a once in your lifetime kind of player !!!!!! He has to stay with the Cardinals until he retires. he is a Musial kind of person and who would not keep musial at any cost. Albert might be the best baseball player of them all, think about that. if the Cardinals let him get away I think Busch Stadium would become a ghost town.I thank the Cardinal owners for signing Pujols to the big contract to keep him here all this time and I know they got their moneys worth. We are the best fans in baseball and I'm proud of that .I have been goig to Cardinal games for 65 yrs. and Pujols is the best I have ever seen.
Tim Lewis (Sullivan, Missouri) - Honestly, can you guys see Albert Pujols in any other uniform besides the Cardinal Red? I can't. He wants to stay here as long as we put the pieces around him to make the team a constant championship contender. He is an inspiration to people everywhere because he was a late round pick that was unheralded and he turned into a star with hard work. He united the town after the entire steroid era passed and McGwire and Sosa hid the skeletons in their closets. Pujols has been adamant about how he has never taken PEDs or anything. He is a role model to all.
Nate Carpenter (Saint Louis, MO) - Let's be serious. Albert loves STL and would be proud to retire as a Cardinal. Please allow this to happen by giving him the contract he deserves... ASAP! Thanks!
Randie Coulter (High Ridge, MO) - In 40 yrs or so when we get another All Star game, I want to be like the older gentlemen watching this yrs. But instead of admiring Stan the Man, it'll be Albert El Hombre.
Monique Freeman (Kensett,AR) - Albert Pujols should be a Cardinal for life because is the best player in the world. If ALbert Pujols wasn't a Cardinal anymore than i wouldn't like the Cardinals.Even thow i like more people on the team,Albert is my one and only favorite player. My grandpa and i just love Albert and the Cardinals. So ALbert should be a Cardinal for life.
Go ALbert Pujols!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Drew M. Brown (N. Pekin, IL) - Albert is one of the best baseball players in the world! Without him on the team, I would not be such a devoted fan and certainly not pay to be part of the KID'S CLUB membership each year. He rocks!!!!!
Becky Boen (Greenville, SC) - LOVE Pujols! GO CARDS!!!
Joshua Heter (St. Louis, MO) - It would be a tragedy to see Albert in another uniform, especially because it would probably be the uniform of a team in a big market - the markets that are always sticking their noses in the air - L.A., N.Y., Chicago, etc...
-Josh Heter
griselda (bronx, N.Y ) - he is one of the best players that i have seen. i love baseball and would have love to be the lucky - one
alejandro arevalo (diamond bar, ca) - sign pujols and a big bat to bat cleanup.
Sophie McDonald (Paducah, KY) - Pujols embodies everything the Cardinals organization stands for.
Keith Kleeschulte (St. Peters, Mo.) - Very rarely do circumstances like this arise in baseball. But when they do the people involved have to rise up right along with the occasion. If the Cardinals as a company want to KEEP THE RESPECT OF THE FANS IN ST. LOUIS they have only ONE CHOICE....sign him no matter what !!
Jesse Hansford (Simpsonville, SC) - I was born and raised a Cardinal fan although I never have lived in or near St. Louis. The closest I ever lived was one hour south of Chicago where I had the pleasure of being a Cardinal fan amongst friends who had the burden of living in Cubs agony.
Albert Pujols has the potential of going down as one of, if not THE greatest ball player of all time. The honor of having that role played out in a Cards uniform is priceless. Raising my 7 month old son I love having the best player on the universe to point to as a role model, on the team I love.
Ultimately though as long as he continues to back up the faith that he professes, I couldn't care less about how he plays on the field. He is absolutely the face of all that should be good in sports, and it's a pleasure sharing the same cap.
KEEP HIM IN ST. LOUIS
Sagar Tolani (Centreville, VA) - Pujols is the only reason the cards are where they are right now!
Shawn Busby (Seymour / Indiana) - It's hard to imagine the Cardinals without Pujols. I will always remain a Cardinals fan, but I sure hope that the Cardinals do everything possible to keep Albert happy and in a Redbirds uniform.
Carlos Javier Leger Duran (Santo Domingo, R.D.) - Albert has become the greatest player ever played for the Cards and is only 29. I would be shocked if i see being traded or released. Please, don't lose this Pujols because if any other team gets him, that team won't let him go.
Zach (Belleville) - KEEP PUJOLS....enough said.
Travis W (Missouri) - Pujols is the best hitter to ever play. he needs to stay a Cardinal. So we need to do whatever we can to keep him. To help keep him we need to get the offense around him going and keep winning games. Pujols has said that he would like to stay in St. Louis, but he also said that he wants to win, and if he feels that the management isnt doing what they should to win, he will probably leave. Pujols doesn't play baseball for the money like A-Rod or others, he plays to win and have fun.
Jessica Rippelmeyer (Wentzville, MO) - So you know when someone comes to visit St. Louis they have to see the "sights of the city"? Well, I find myself describing Pujols as one of those "sights". If you come to St. Louis, your trip is not complete without seeing Albert Pujols step up to home plate and smack that homer that everyone has been anticipating. Now THAT is the biggest sight in St. Louis! :)
Larry B (Springfield, MO) - Albert Pujols should be a lifetime Cardinal.
Justin Lynn (Saint Louis/Missouri) - Cuz if you don't I'll grab several rusty knives. Best player in the game.
Logan Hedrick (Union, Mo) - Pujols is like a god to the St. Louis Cardinals. Without Pujols, there would be no St. Louis Cardinals existance..
Brandon (Springfield, MO) - The man is a team player a winner and keeps improving on his self how that is possible i have no clue but he does it every year that being said he can only do so much and if he has no help they will simply just stop pitching to him and he will go somewhere to a team that wants to win!!
Allison (St. Louis, MO) - Albert could be the greatest Cardinal ever and NEEDS to be one for life! Get it done!
josh noe (rolla/MO) - Do i really need to explain why we should keep the greatest player of this era lol.
Tyler Roe (St. Louis, MO) - He is a legend. Make him a redbird forever like Stan, Lou, bob, Ozzie, etc...
Kaitlin (Columbia/MO) - ..
Blake Spurgeon (Jackson, TN) - it would be incredibly stupid not to resign this guy. he is our whole team. not to mention the best player in the league
Laura Wheeler (Austin, Texas) - Pujols not only is the spirit of the STL Cards, but so involved in the community!! He loves them...They love PULJOLS!! MVP 2009!!
Brandon Treat (Alton, IL) - Albert Pujols is the greatest player to play the game in my lifetime, and arguably any lifetime. We have the unique opportunity as a city, to say that we were lucky enough to be called home by a player who might one day be known as the best player of all time.
Please Albert, please stay with us til' you're old and gray!
Eric Miller (Columbia, MO) - Greatest baseball player of all time.
Michael (Brazil, Indiana ) - KEEP HIM HERE FOREVER!
Josh (Phoenix AZ) - Albert should never wear another uniform, He is among the great lifelong Cardinals of all time - Musial, Gibson, etc. It would be a tragety of the highest proportion for Albert to ever play for another team.
Dylan Sheridan (Murray KY) - This is the best player in baseball. Don't let him go.
Jason Thomas (Iowa) - hes a beast
Mike Mantia (Celebration, FL) - I believe Pujols ranks among Stan Musial in both athletic greatness as well as off the field philanthropy. He exemplifies the St. Louis Cardinals character with both sportsmanship and respect for his fellow man. I see no reason why Pujols should ever leave the Cardinals, he's a perfect fit for the team and the team is a perfect fit for him.
Jamie Oakley (Tulsa/ok) - I never want to see EL Hombre wearing another Jersey.
Jason Chave (Washington/Illinois) - Please make Albert Pujols a lifetime Cardinal. He needs to go down in the history books and remembered as a Cardinal. Lets make it happen!
robert borowiak (waialua, hawaii) - Albert needs too be backed up with what he wants, a competitive team. After that, what happens is in the hands of Albert's Lord, and THAT is most important.
I know the front office also sees the best thing since Stan Musial in StL.
Please let us fans enjoy Albert for his entire career, in a
town many of us have come to respect in the baseball world.
Soncerely,
Robert Borowiak
Michael (Emmaus PA) - Best player I have EVER seen play. He is as great off the field as he is on!
Albert should win the Roberto Clemente award every year.
Matt (St. Louis, MO) - I'm not saying that I'd never watch Cardinals baseball if the Cardinals don't retain Pujols.
That said, if you're going to let him go...let him go in a trade. If you're not going to trade him, sign him to a long term extension NOW. Those are the only two options. Don't let him become a free agent. If you get outbid, there's no way to compensate for the loss.
Jesse (Jefferson City, MO) - Have fun finding pitchers to get him out if you let him go.
Sue Jent (Golconda, IL) - I'm a die hard Cardinals fan of 52 yrs. In no way should you ever entertain the idea of not signing the best player of this generation. Don't sign him and see what the fan base will really look like! The backlash would be unbelievable. Don't let the Cardinals be known as the "once proud" organization. Albert is a treasure for the Cardinals and the community. Please give him the lifetime contract he deserves.
Kevin Oligschlaeger (Jefferson City, MO.) - Sign Him. Never to many lifetime Cardinals.
Kevin Oligschlaeger
Allen (springfield, mo) - Do you want us to turn into the Royals, a team with no star power?
James Offner (Reinbeck, Iowa) - You cannot let one of the two best players in franchise history walk. He is the centerpiece of this franchise. He must always be a Cardinal.
Do not delay in signing Albert Pujols. Your credibility is on the line here.
Steven Irviine (Tulsa, Oklahoma) - Albert IS Cardinal baseball..
jonathan reed (st. louis, MO) - Albert has been, and will be, the heart and soul of Saint Louis baseball. Sign him to a lifetime contract, and make his charity a part of the contract with perpetual donations as long as he's involved in Cardinal baseball. This may be the only way to overcome his market value and persuade him to stay!
Wesley Edwards (Pekin, IL) - Pujols consistently the best. He should end his career in St. Louis!
mark walters (crestview Florida) - Pujols is Cardinal baseball in this decade. What he has given to this team and city over the years more than makes up for how big his new contract may be.
The Cradinals have almost always kept their grreats in years passed. please dont be the group that lets a future Hall of Famer walk. It would go down in History as 1 of if not the most stupid decision in Cardinal history.
Jamie Lautz (MO) - Why hasn't this been done, & sooner?
This man IS the St. Louis Cardinals. He is a once-in-a-lifetime player, a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
SIGN HIM TO A LIFETIME CONTRACT NOW! This man should never wear any other uniform than that of the St. Louis Cardinals.
Daniel Kreienkamp (St. Louis, MO) - If Albert leaves, not a dime of my $ goes towards the Cardinals again.
Jennifer Griggs (Saint Louis, Missouri) - Albert Pujols IS the complete package as a baseball player- good defensive skills, intimidating at bat, a true family man and humanitarian. He brings a lot to not only this ballclub, but the city as a whole. Do it now!
Daniel W.Clay Jr. (Lincoln Neb.) - What word's could express it! Do the right thing. And it's not about number's, This is an issue of CARDINAL HEART! The NUMBER'S WILL TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES.
Bob Cody (Columbus, Ohio) - We are so luck to have such a once-in-a-generation complete baseball player like Albert Pujols.
Please sign him up for at least 7 more years.
Robert Hulbert (Bluford, Illinois ) - Players like Albert Pujols are extremely rare. He is the most consistent & tenacious competitor in the MLB today as well as being the best player I have ever witnessed.
But more importantly he is a genuine role model & citizen who takes seriously his responsibility to make the world he lives in a better place.
While most of today's pampered sports stars tarnish their reputation & weary the fans with inexcusable self absorbance Albert upholds is the antithesis. Albert is a genuine sports hero & future Hall or Famer who is just as much a Hall of Fame person.
Keep Albert in St. Louis!
jerry (columbia,sc) - Keep Albert!
Derrick Lee (Chicago) - Please don't sign Albert. I am sick of him terrorizing us Cubs every year. I think AP is going to cause Sweet Lou to have a heart attack.
Steve Wade (Charlotte, NC) - I've been a Cardinals' fan since 1964. If Albert isn't re-signed, that loyalty may end.
Brett J. Bowen (Nashville, Tennessee) - Albert Pujols is not not only the greatest baseball players in the MLB, but is also one of the best all-time players off the field. What he brings to STL is so much more than homeruns and RBI's. Day in and day out he teaches the game, inspires children, and is a great father. Albert Pujols is top 3 best Cardinals of all-time!
Sign him! For the sake of the fans Sign Albert!
Peggy L. Newman (Aberdeen) - Albert is not just important to the Cardinals, he and his family are important to the city of St.Louis. A player and a man of his caliber are few and far between. I'm a lifetime Card fan from MS and we need Albert to stay in St Louis. We try to come every year for some games and it just wouldn't be the same w/o Albert.
Ang (St. Joseph, MO) - I've been a Cards fan my entire life living on the wrong side of the state. Some of my first memories involved the Cardinals, and I'm sure that some of my last some day will involve the same. Watching Albert Pujols on a daily basis day after day has spoiled us all, and I know that I wouldn't be the only one that would die inside to see Albert walking across the grass of Busch Stadium in a road gray uniform. He has done so much for the team and the city, and he wants to stay. Please please PLEASE make that happen!
David Neal (Springfield, MO) - Can not under any circumstance understand why this would even be a thought. Sign him and help him get help to win. This is the best chance we have to win multiple titles DO NOT throw this once in a life time chance away. OR YOU WILL LOOSE a lot of fans and money!
billy bruns (penfield,il) - he needs to finish were he started no questions!
William Morrow (virden/illinois) - Albert Pujols is the face of the St. Louis Cardinals. Efforts need to be made now (june 2009) to sign him. I do not want to wipe the tears from my 2 year old's face if Albert walks out that door. He is the definition of Cardinal baseball. Give him whatever he wants!!!!!
Carrie Leach (Pekin, Illinois) - i LOVE Albert Pujols on the Cardinals. he is my favorite baseball team player. If he leaves Cardinals will lose a great loss and it will hurt them. Hes an amazing baseball player and Cardinals are stupid to not try to keep him. He pulls a majority of the Cardinals fan base as well.
John Marecek (St. Louis, MO) - I don't want to have to explain to my kids why the best player is no longer around.
Tim (St.Louis,Missouri) - Albert Pujols is simply one of the best players to walk onto the field. He is a generational talent and all should be honored to watch him play.He has batting average and strikeout numbers in line with the likes of Tony Gwynn,he has power numbers and slugging numbers in line with Ralph Kiner,Jimmie Foxx, and Mantle. He is mentioned in the same breath as Dimaggio and Gehrig. He is a gold glove first baseman and has shown he has an all around knowledge of the game. His reaction test scores put him with the likes of Ruth.We marvel at his homeruns and his flair for the dramatic.Game 5 of the NLCS against Houston still gives us chills. His work ethic for a player of his calibur is unprecidented,he is a leader both on and off the field.
A .334 hitter,1600 plus hits, close to 350 homeruns, almost 1000 runs scored, and more than 1000 RBI all within his first 9 seasons. He is also predominant in the community, the machine with a heart. This man lives for the sport, lives for his team, and we live to watch him play.
Zach (St. louis, Mo) - If you allow albert to walk by not putting a winner around him, I garuntee you I will never for the rest of the time this team is owned by this group give you one dime of my money, or one second of my time. Take a look down clark to the scottrade center, thats a sports owner who cares about winning and not the bottom line.
Barney Johnson (Belleville/IL) - Albert is truly a once in a generation if not millennium type of player. To let him slip through our fingers would be a slap in the face to the rich history and winning tradition of the cardinals organization.
Kyle (Normal, Illinois) - I am a huge sports fan in general and the cardinals are easily my favorite team and Albert is easily my favorite player, his presence on the field makes everyone better, and keeps fans in the seats. If ownerships wants to keep drawing 3 million plus they had better resign Albert to whatever deal he wants!
brian klarfeld (st.louis/mo) - the cardinals will be in playoff contention every year Pujols is in the lineup. He will go down as the top 3 best baseball players to ever live. Albert loves st. louis , and wants to be here for the rest of his career. Lets make this happen st. louis.
erik grant (ada, kolahoma) - wouldn't be right if Pujols didn't finish his career as a Cardinal. He is a great role model for not only christian athletes but athletes of every sport and the St. Louis Cardinals represent whats good about baseball. Look at are HOF list Brock,Gibson,Red,Stan,The Wizard and others. All of them outstanding guys on and off the field and Albert Pujols fits perfectly with them all. Stay a Cardinal for life El Hombre!
Jamie Friend (Odin, IL) - You most definately need to keep Pujols around for life!
Kyle (Wildwood, MO) - I I'll never in my life forgive or arch another Cardinals game if you trade the best player in the game ever away
Caleb Beeson (Wichita/KS) - Keep Pujols signed, Cardinals for life baby!!
Lise Schumacher (Bettendorf, IA) - Couldn't bear to see Albert in any uniform but a Cardinal's one. He must be a lifetime Cardinal!!!
Jim McGuire (Springdale, AR 72764) - Albert Pujols is the core player of the future winning baseball by the St. Louis Cardinals. I have been a loyal Cardinals fan for 63 years, and have seen a large number of star players in the Cardinals organization. Only one, Stan "The Man" Musial, is in the category of Albert Pujols, and Stan is a lifetime Cardinal. I urge the Cardinals owners and management to make every effort to make Albert a Cardinal for the entire life of his illustrious career. Beyond his outstanding contributions as a player, he and his family are outstanding citizens of St. Louis. I urge you to move forward to do this now!
James Barnett (Saint Louis) - Albert is the greatest Cardinal hitter since Stan Musial and the most feared batter in the game. Letting him play anywhere besides St. Louis would be a travesty. Please make Pujols a LIFETIME CARDINAL!
jason shreve (Hopkinsville, KY) - I know this ownership group has decided to go the cheap route and not invest in free agent player, they need to throw the money saved into signing Albert long term!
Justin Hulsey (Union, MO) - A Pujols-less Cardinals. Just think about it. We dont even realize what we have with him. He is literally changed the way we (Cardinal fans) view the game.
Harry Miller (Hanover, PA) - Albert has hinted that he's receptive to an extension and that absolute top dollar isn't the most critical issue to him. Offer him an extension now which would exercise his option for 2011 and lock him up for an additional 7 years at $20M, for a total value of $156M ($16M for the option plus $140M for the extension). That would make the contract extend through 2018. If Pujols becomes a free agent, he will likely command a 6-10 year contract for $25M to $30M per year ($150M - $300M). If he is extended a year or two before free agency, the cost per year would go down accordingly.
Donald Michael Gooch (Conway) - Albert is the best Cardinal since Stan the Man. He should be a lifetime Cardinal, just like Stan. Oh yeah, he's also the best player in baseball. Do it.
Andrea (Cedar Falls, IA) - We have to keep Pujols.
Clark (Dahlgren/IL) - Best player of the era should go into the hall wearing the birds on the bat...
Tom Knuppel (Manito, Il) - Lock him up now!
Jeff Webster (Belleville Il) - As owners this should be towards the top of the list, next to getting someone to protect Albert at the plate
Sean Berger (Kansas City MO) - I would love to see Albert in a Cardinals uniform for his entire career!
Aron Nakazato (HI) - He needs to stay here
Steve (Anchorage, AK) - Ticket sales, merchandise,, legacy, another number to eventually retire. There are too many reasons to list, but he needs to be a lifetime regardless of the salary. He is worth too much to let go.
Laura Astorian (Kennesaw, GA) - Please re-sign Albert to the contract that he deserves. I expect to see a bronze statue of him in front of Busch with the rest of the Cardinals Greats.
Laura Ridling (Florissant MO) - Albert SHOULD be a lifetime Cardinal because we can not ever let him get away, he is baseball.
Tony Ravens (St. Ann, MO) - This is the greatest baseball player to play the game today. He does great things not only for the Cardinals but for the city of St. Louis itself. I cant imagine the day that I see Mr. Pujols in any other teams uniform.
marc roberts (Las Vegas) - He IS the Cardinals.
Trevor Hayden (Manito, IL) - Give him an offer he can't refuse. Albert Pujols is the the best player in the majors and he shows no signs of letting up. This man just keeps getting better. Sign him for a big contract long term and make Albert a Cardinal for life.
Rodney Knuppel (Pekin IL) - Just look at his numbers!
Michael W. (Sikeston, Missouri) - Pujols is one of, if not, the greatest baseball player of all time. He has given so much to the city and the franchise. When you have a great player, you don't need to let him go.
ryan jones (IN) - Albert deserves a statue besides Stan when he retires.
Pamela Wier (Belleville, IL) - We need to retire his #5 also!
Denis Wier (Belleville Illinois) - Albert Pujos stay a Cardinal for life he has demonstrated his devotion to this team to the fans and management by always giving 110% This should be enough to pay him over the board no matter what the cost
Sharon Albertina (Collinsville, IL.) - Pujols represents what I believe to be the last of a true baseball professional. This man appears to be genuine in his belief in team spirit, work ethic and last but not least his belief in God. The Cardinals are lucky to have him and should make him a lifetime Cardinal.
Matt hackmann (IL) - Sign Albert.
Samantha Albertina (Belleville, IL) - I cannot imagine that the Cardinals ownership could possibly let the greatest Cardinal of our generation, possibly of all time, go to another team. Albert Pujols is the embodiment of what it means to be a Cardinal and he deserves the chance to play out his entire career here. If he is not signed to another contract, I don't know if I could bring myself to continue going to the games. I can't imagine that Cardinals management doesn't feel the same, though, so I'm hoping that even though this petition is a great gesture, the Cardinals already have a plan in place to make sure Albert Pujols finishes his career in St. Louis. And...after he's done playing, he can continue as a coach!!
Tim H (New Jersey) - needs to happen soon. I want to see Albert in bronze just down the street from Stan.
Matt Spangler (Belleville Il) - Pujols is the face of the franchise there is no way we can let him leave!!
Tom Brennan (West Lafayette, IN) - A Cardinal fan since 1957, and along with Stan and Gibby, he's the best I've ever seen. Don't let him go somewhere else, please. None of us wants to see him in another uniform.
Seth Estes (Chicago/IL) - Don't pull a Boston Red Sox Part II and let the second coming of Babe Ruth get away.
Tim Lary (Dubuque,Iowa) - I don't think any Cardinal fan could bear the thought of seeing Albert play in another uniform. No way you can let the greatest Cardinal of all time go anywhere. Not only should Albert be signed a Cardinal for life because of his MVP baseball skills but because of his contribution as a human being and the positive roll model he represents to all who are witness. Please do whatever it takes to make him a Redbird for life!
Justin Dickson (Winslow, Indiana) - Albert is a once in a generation type of player. We have to have him play his whole career wearing the birds on the bat.
Jeff Beese (Saint Charles , MO) - Pujols is God!
Carl Hancock (VA) - Signing Pujols to a longterm deal is a must! As a Cardinals fan I don't think I could ever forgive the organization if they let one of the greatest players ever to play the game leave to play for another time. Pony up and pay the man! He deserves it and is worth it. Pujols 4 Life!
Kevin White (Bloomington, IL) - DeWitt, you better open DeWallet for the MANG!
michael Lewandowski (palm beach florida) - he needs to stay on the cardinals. no one would be the same seeing him in another uniform. he really is the best and the cards management need to actually step up and do something that we can appreciate. he is the best person on and off the field. he really has shaped st. louis as a team and a city. when you think of albert pujols you think of hime in the clean white CARDINALS jersey!!
Adam Daugherty (St. Louis, MO) - Saskatchewan eh. Wow! I've actually been to Moose Jaw. Huge baseball community for such a little town!.
Rob Golliday (Bloomington, IL) - El Hombre is the most exciting, greatest consistent player that our generation may ever see. He is undeniably one of the greatest players to ever take the field. He is and always will be one of my heroes. Not only for being such a great man on the field, but for doing everything off the field. It would physically pain me, and makes me cringe to think of Albert in another uniform. He needs to be a lifetime Cardinal.
Doorgo (St. Louis, MO ) - Think of the legacy that Stan Musial left for several generations on the city of St. Louis and the Cardinal franchise. Not to mention Red Schoendienst, Lou Brock, Bob Gibson, etc... Albert Pujols will garner the same type of positive legacy for future generations as well. Don't just let him walk away to be belittled on some mercenary franchise on the East coast. Let my children grow up to see Albert Pujols retire as a St. Louis Cardinal.
Rick Wiley (Egypt) - The Sun God Ra has blessed the soul of Pujols.
michael zoellner (Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan) - in moose jaw we hit puck. in cardinals albert hit ball... many. no ice in cardinals, very good for bat ball in. skates on dirt are fall. not albert fall, albert run hard. albert for mvp yes, always. run albert cardinal run.
Jeremy Leporin (Beijing China) - Almost as good as Will Clark, but sign him anyway.
Jason Zoellner (Lake Elsinore, CA) - Sounds logical to me
Doorgo (St. louis, MO) - Became the only player in baseball history to start his career in eight consecutive seasons with a .300+ batting average, 30+ HRs, 100+ RBIs and 99+ runs scored. From 2001 through 2008, his seasonal averages in these Triple Crown categories have been .334, 40, and 122.
Does anything else really need to be said?
Knup (Morton, IL) - First of all, Albert Pujols will go down as the greatest player to ever play the game. He has done wonders for the St. Louis Cardinals organization as well. This guy plays the game the right way and stays out of trouble. I urge Cardinals management to seriously consider doing whatever it takes to SIGN ALBERT PUJOLS FOR LIFE!
